A blog born out of a desire to share and learn
When I got my first few shares for my 18th birthday, I had already been interested in the environment for a long time. But it took another ten years and a lot of reading and learning on sustainability for me to realise the importance responsible investing. But lacking guidance, I did not know what to do to put the idea into practice. So I held on to the (not very sustainable) Blue Chip shares I had.
I was 29 when my mum died of cancer. She had been a strong influence on me and taught me to care about the world and the beings in it. So when she left me her life’s savings, I wanted to invest responsibly, perhaps even create a positive impact.
But I was unhappy with the advice on sustainable investing I received at banks: not aiming for change, no innovation. For the next two years, I did extensive research and found many exciting ways to invest. Partly through trial and error, I arrived at a portfolio that is almost 100% sustainable and seems quite balanced now for my needs.
With this blog I don’t want to lecture, since I don’t get everything right either. But I want to share my findings with as many people as possible, to help them make more sustainable investment decisions.
